The Department of Information Technology established in 1995 at the Sardar Patel College of Engineering offers a B.E. degree in Information Technology. This degree provides students with excellent preparation both for graduate study in Information Technology and for professional technical employment. Graduates of our department have been recruited by computer and communications companies, and in technology-driven fields such as financial services and consulting practices in which computing and information management are central to the operation of the enterprise.
The department is well-equipped to provide technical and performance guidance in this versatile field. The prime focus within our department is practical education. Our graduate students are of the highest caliber and are ready to “invent the future”, redefining computing. They secure high ranks in the university examination. Our students are recruited on campus by companies like i-flex Solutions, Microsoft, Mastek, Cisco, Amdocs etc. To ensure that our students are kept abreast with the latest technologies, modernization of the computer labs is routinely carried out. There are 7 laboratories including a project and development laboratory where higher semester students can design and implement their projects. Currently, our labs are equipped with more than 164 PC’s all of which are interconnected with a high-speed local area network, with full access to the Internet. A departmental library stocked with well chosen books caters to the reference needs of the Faculty.
